Photos & Overview: Introductory Maven Box

Julep Maven is a monthly subscription service from Julep - a set of nail boutiques based in Washington - that focuses on hand, foot and nail care. Julep Maven is $19.99 per month, but I snagged this intro box for just a penny thanks to a promo code. Promo codes tend to pop up every few weeks, so keep an eye out!

To sign up for Julep Maven, I took a style quiz on the company’s website. The style quiz is meant to place customers into one of five categories: American Beauty, Boho Glam, Bombshell, Classic with a Twist and It Girl. I was originally placed into the American Beauty category based on my answers to the style quiz, but I switched over to Boho Glam because I preferred the nail polish colors in that intro box.

After the style quiz, the sign-up process was pretty easy and just required general information - address, credit card information, etc. The one gripe I had with the sign-up process was the length of time it took for my account to be activated. There are certain Maven-only pages on the company’s website that include special deals (like 20 percent off all purchases) and information about the style categories and their companion boxes. You can only access those pages once your account has been activated. The activation process is supposed to take an hour, but mine took nearly one and a half days.

The Julep Maven website is pretty easy to navigate and once you’re logged into your account, everything you’ll need to access sits along the left side of the page. There’s also an extensive FAQ page that will answer any questions you might have about the program.

Here’s a look at the items I received in my Boho Glam intro box!

Nail Vernis in Blake, Nail Vernis in Heather and Glow On Age Defying Hand Brightener

Samples of SPF 30 Hand Cream and Glycolic Hand Scrub

Julep describes Blake as a “sunny butter yellow creme” and Heather as a “chic platinum greige with a metallic glow.” The colors are gorgeous!

This intro box is a great treat, especially for only a penny! I skipped next month’s box only because I’ve got more than enough nail polish right now. I’m going to keep my account, though. I may treat myself to a box every few months and skip those in between.
